Communication from the owners was outstanding. Full clear instructions of... read more how to get there, what was available and how everything worked.
Situated up a semi steep hill, just below a farm house, it is so secluded you would think you were on your own little piece of land and stunning scenery as far as the eyes could see!
The local cows, sheep and chickens were just a delight.
We had a 2 night break, before arrival, Carol very kindly popped in some milk to the fridge, some venison burgers and local sausages that was just such a kind touch.
Inside is small, but very perfectly formed. At one end an extremely comfortable large double bed with cabinet beside.
A little seating couch area in the middle and to the rear, plenty of storage with a kitchenette housing, toaster, micro, coffee machine, with more than enough sweets and treats, coffee teas, biscuits etc. A log burning stove and behind that a compact, very cute, ensuite shower room. Honestly just delightful.
So cosy. toasty warm we just loved it.
Outside, plenty of space to run around in the grass, the out door fire pit with two large log stools, there is a gorgeous wee cobbled courtyard with bistro table, chairs, BBQ and hot tub!
Provided for you is more that enough, wall mounted TV, dishes, utensils, cups, glasses, toiletries, ample storage in cabinet included hanging space, under the settee storage and under the bed.
Loads of plug points, very reliable WiFi with password for the router provided.
Logs for the hot tub, fire pit and inside log burner. Really couldn't ask for anything more.
A 4 minute walk down the hill is the local bus stop, with friendly reliable, hourly bus services to all neighbouring towns.
Stanhope up the road is worth a wee visit, with local shops, castle, pubs etc.
The other direction was Bishop Aukland well worth a visit, a lot bigger with a some amazing architecture and a beautiful big Abbey.
Cannot recommend this wee gem enough. We will definitely return. A great all year round destination. I think it would be amazing in winter.

However upon leaving Carol sent a £150 invoice to me.
£15 for Breakfast and £5 for... read more logs which I used. So I was expecting a £20 invoice.
2 weeks prior to my arrival I rang Carol to ask if there was any local areas I could use the internet as I have an 11am meeting on the day of checkout. She then advised that I could use the hut till my meeting finished which we agreed would be between 1pm -1.30pm she said this would be completely free of charge.
Carol then tried to charge me an extortionate £130 for late checkout on an invoice after!
She then rang me at 8.15am in the morning less than 24 hours after checkout with an extremely threatening voicemail. I had reported her and have been advised not to pay the invoice from her personal invoicing system.
To confirm I have paid the £20 for the items that I used though a safe payment system which was advised though the booking company.
This really is a shame as I had such a lovely time in this location and it had some lovely eco friendly touches. The issue ended up ruining the stay which really is sad.

We... read more had been looking for a relaxing weekend to just take a break from the general busyness of life and this place fitted the bill perfectly!
The scenery is absolutely amazing across the valley, sitting outside you could just hear the odd sheep and bird so peaceful is the word.
The wood fire hot tub is a nice luxury, a little planning as takes around an hour to get to temperature but easy to use and worth the wait. Just to sink into this and look at the scenery is a great way to escape.
The shepherd hut itself is very well thought out, the layout makes it seem roomier that the size it is. We had good weather so could leave the doors open and enjoy the inside and outdoor space.
There is the option to add a breakfast basket which we did and were pleasantly surprised at the quality (and quantity) provided, we had different each morning delivered to outside the hut at an arranged time, fresh baked bread and warm croissants along with mix’s of fruit, cereal, yoghurt- absolutely lovely and would recommend considering to enhance your stay.
There are a number of walks that leave directly from the farm and we enjoyed a circular route dropping down to the river along to the local town and then back across the tops.
We returned to a lovely afternoon tea we had pre-ordered which was delivered in a basket and set on a table with table cloth and china cups.
In the evening we enjoyed some farm supplied burgers on the BBQ and then roasted marshmallows over the fire pit whilst enjoying the evening.
A truly relaxing break from the real world it was a shame to leave but we shall be returning.
